Lower Cost Hydrogen

Renewable Methanol cuts down on the costly Hydrogen Midstream (Transportation & Storage) by leveraging existing infrastructure.
Kaizen Clean Energy Icon

Safer Hydrogen Storage

Renewable Methanol (Liquid) avoids pressurized gas releases in public spaces and is handled similar to existing fuels (gasoline & diesel).
Kaizen Clean Energy Icon

No Product Loss

Renewable Methanol does not Boil Off and can be stored for multiple years. Cryogenic H2 loses product every hour it is stored.

Conversion is Low Cost

Each Methanol to Hydrogen system can yield up to 200kg/day of Hydrogen, takes up a small footprint, and is a fraction of the price vs comps.

Methanol Steam Reforming

To convert Methanol to Hydrogen, water is added at the gas station. This increases the Hydrogen produced by 30-40%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are just a few questions we are regularly asked when speaking with new clients. Let us know what questions you have. We’re ready to get you the answers you need.

Companies market $1.50/kg Hydrogen but price at the pump is $16/kg, why the large delta?

The large gap in Hydrogen’s price is due to the buildup cost of CAPEX, OPEX, Transportation, and Gas Station infrastructure. The Transportation and Gas Station costs make up ~60% of the total cost at the pump. Kaizen Clean Energy’s product reduces these costs.

The clean energy transition seemingly came out of nowhere, why?

Global emissions mandates are changing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable energy and battery electric vehicle economics continue improving, which has identified the need for energy storage solutions decentralized from the electricity grid (i.e., Green Hydrogen).

How do you produce Green H2?

Green Hydrogen is produced using renewable electricity and water (H2O). Fuel Cells use renewable power to split the water molecule into Green Hydrogen and oxygen.

How is Hydrogen (H2) used?

Currently, H2 has many uses in the refining and petrochemical sectors because of its clean-burning nature. The automotive industry is looking to use hydrogen & fuel cells in combination with batteries, to provide greater vehicle range and performance.

How does Hydrogen’s energy density compare to other energy sources?

Hydrogen does not have a very high energy density (MJ/gallon) but has a very high specific energy (MJ/kg). Hydrogen is typically sold by the kilogram and not by the gallon.

When will Green Hydrogen be cost competitive against Blue Hydrogen?

KCE’s innovative strategy reduces the cost of Green Hydrogen & becomes competitive, if not lower cost, than fossil fuel-based Hydrogen.
